1980s Shows and Events


$2,000 obtained for Marie Drake from ESEA Title IV_C Teacher Initiative Grant.
1,430 people were served, mostly elementary students.  Grades served pre-K to 9th graders.

One public show


In 1984 funds ($5,409) were obtained for Marie Drake Junior Hight School through an education consolidation and improvement act chapter II block grant.  Title of project:  Planetariuim sTudies. The major expenditure was repair and maintenance of projector by a man from California.
Locking covers were put on projector.

Ninth grade student at Marie Drake Junior High School wrote planetariu shows which included music, slides and current informaton.
Organized by Teal Schneider.
The students presented their shows to elementary students starting in January.

March - public evening show
April - Big Brothers Big Sisters came to planetarium in evening
April - 30 students from Pelican school district attended (k-5th)

Attendance was 1,673.
