Volunteer Opportunities

Give a Presentation

We are looking for people who would like to present a program at the planetarium on an astronomy or space exploration related topic.  

Our greatest need is for people to do programming for elementary and middle school age children e.g. art project or hands on activities.

You don't have to be a professional in the field - just knowledgeable and passionate about a specific subject.

You select the topic and the age group of your target audience. You can show for all ages, for children or for adults. 

Or you may develop some kind of hands on activity such as an art/crafts project or a science demonstration or hands on activity.

We are looking for volunteers to help with education presentation on a broad range of astronomy subjects. Our presentations reflect the knowledge and interests of volunteers.  We want our volunteers to present they find interesting. 


A show typically involves a trained volunteer using our digital planetarium system followed by a powerpoint lecture or other activity.. Presenters often include music, movies, photos and video. We have internet access. We encourage you to plan a hands on science or art project. We have arf supplies and can purchase other inexpensive supplies. We suggest you allow time for Q&A.


You can plan an all ages show or  cater your show to children (within an age range) or adults. Anyone can come to any presentation, but the target audience it up to the presenter and included in publicity.


We have lots of books for you to research a topic. 

We need fundraising assistance

  • Grant leads and writing grants.
  • Organizing a fundraising event such as a garage sale.

    • Why give a presentation

    If you are preparing to teach, this presentation or activity would can be a comfortable place for you to practice your teaching skills.

    By getting involved, you can learn about astronomy and become more comfortable in making public presentations.

    Think Outside the Box

    We are also open to creative uses of the Planetarium space. For example, yoga, meditation or live music under the stars.

    Organize a Star Party

    Borrow some of our telescopes for us (or use your own) and arrange a star party.
