Since we are a non-profit organization run completely by a small dedicated volunteer staff, donations of any kind are very much appreciated and required to cover our basic expenses.

IRA minimum
distribution
If you are over 70 1/2 you can request all or part of the minimum distribution from many Individual Retirement Plans to qualified charities (such as the Marie Drake Planetarium). These distributions are tax free; they don't count as taxable income. These IRA Charitable Rollover gifts (also known as a Qualified Charitable Distribution) count toward satisfying your required minimum distribution each year. There is no minimum gift amount. Simply contact your IRA administrator to learn how to initiate a direct transfer from your account to the qualified charity of your choice.
